COSAMP is proud to report one of its member schools’ bands “Beyond Insomnia” competed in the Contemporary Music Ensemble Festival 2016, held at Ellenbrook Senior High School in Western Australia and achieved the high accolade of “outstanding” in every category!
Jade Champion (Yr10), Jesse Bryntessan (Yr10), Dylan Bryan-McCaig (Yr9), Imogen Lau (Yr9), Ray Walton (Yr9) and Brock Soltwisch (Yr9) from Southern River College rehearse together both before school on Thursday under the direction of the school’s Guitar Teacher, Ian Campbell, and also on Wednesdays after school. Having booked in for the festival, all of the Southern River staff are proud of the student’s commitment and endeavour. “We were first on the program meaning that the students had to at Ellenbrook by 7:50am to warm up and sound check for an 8:30am start,” said Craig Wallace-Gibb, Music Teacher. “Ellenbrook is about an hour away from school, so they had to leave home by about 7am. This is probably the earliest you will ever hear of a rock band doing anything, except sleep really. Actually rock musicians usually go to bed at this time! (laughs)”
